Therefore, it be concluded that 100% low-cost renewable energy is the solution to climate change, and, further, a tremendous business opportunity to create “green wealth” in the coming decades through the world energy transition towards low-cost renewables.

Green New Deal – key point missing

The Green New Deal proposed by Alexandria Octavio-Cortez and Ed Markey combines the Rosevelt New Deal aspiriations of creating new well paying jobs and decreasing the income inequality with the transformation of our economy into a Green Economy powered by 100% renewable energy.

While the proposal is specific on the “New Deal” part, how about these 2 key points for the “Green” part, which has the potential to make or break it?

  1. 100% LOW-COST! Renewables

Today, wind or solar cost less than fossils in all 50 US States. With economics at our back, renewables are the smarter choice now.

The next step? TALK ABOUT it.

If everybody knew how cheap! renewables are, everybody would do it.

100% Renewables - a for profit solution to climate change.

Every politician call sell this to it’s voters!

This is the key point for the Paris Agreement to work. Only a few states like California will act on political or moral grounds alone. But, with economics at our back, everybody will go for 100% LOW-COST renewables. Hence, TALK ABOUT low-cost renewables!

  1. Largest new business opportunity in history.

According to Al Gore, the New York Times, Bloomberg and others, the worldwide energy transition towards 100% low-cost renewables will save billions of dollars and is considered the “largest new business opportunity in the history of the world” (Al Gore) with an annual turnover of $1.5 trillion for decades to come.

Consequently, this opportunity will create unprecedented “green prosperity” and millions of new jobs for the countries leading the energy transition.

One more point, about the green dream:

You are talking about a green dream. Indeed, for years and years have we demanded more energy efficiency for buildings, for the industry, and higher fuel standards, to save on costs and cutting pollution for clean air.

But, let’s go a step further. Let’s really dream. Let’s dream of a zero emission world:

The dream is zero! emissions:

Just imagine living in a home that is simply 1.5 foot superinsulated with triple-glass windows, solar panels on the roof and an EV in the garage.

Just imagine this home would need no furnace anymore at 20 degrees below, and no AC is needed in summer at 110.

Just imagine this house would even be lower-cost to build than today’s standard homes.

Living in a truly net zero energy home, in a zero emission place!

This is the dream – a home for 100 years living with zero emissions and powered by 100% LOW-COST renewables!

Amory Lovins built this dream in 1983 already in Aspen, Colorado, and updated it in 2009. A 1.5ft superinsulated  home with triple glass windows, without furnace and without AC, and, $1,900 cheaper than a conventional home. It’s even cheaper!Thousands of net zero energy buildings around the world have followed his lead.

And, Amory Lovins just built the next dream: A net zero energy office building. The new Innovation Center of the Rocky Mountain Institute in Basalt, CO. An office building for 50-90 people which is what 90% of the businesses in the country need. No furnace, no AC, superinsulated with triple glass windows and solar panels on the rooftop. And, again cheaper within 5 years, lots of smart tech inside. But, again, cheaper than a conventional office building. That’s how easy it is now. And nobody seems to know about it.

And last, not least, it is Amory Lovins again that has discovered HUGE efficiency gains, nicely summarized in a recent Forbes article. https://www.forbes.com/sites/amorylovins/2019/01/21/the-invisible-energy-bonanza/#245df6ff698a

It’s time to TALK ABOUT net zero energy buildings and homes, structure politics to encourage it, and dream of a zero emission world, with all the HUGE efficiency potential powered by 100% LOW-COST! renewables. Millions of new jobs (www.thesolutionsproject.org ), lots of start ups and smart technology, and, boost renewables to transition into a low-costrenewables future.

And, it is about business. The leading countries in the world will be selling this green technology to the world. As mentioned, this is the biggest new business opportunity in history. It’s on the table today. Take it or leave it. If we take it, everybody wins, because renewables cost less today, than fossils, and open the door for unprecedented prosperity with millions of new green jobs.

And once this economic growth happened, you can discuss how to use the proceeds from it, for example for the New Deal part of it or otherwise, to finance a political agenda. In other words, go “GREEN” is first, the “NEW DEAL” is second.

100% cheap! Renewables are the smart solution.

100% cheap! Renewables are the for profit solution to climate change.

Every politician can sell this! to it’s voters.

Go zero! Let’s reduce our individual 15 tons annual carbon footprint down to zero!, go with 100% LOW-COST! renewables! This is the green dream of the Green New Deal.

Climate deniers: Denialism died the moment renewables got cheaper. Denialism is not relevant anymore, renewables will happen no matter what because they are the lowest-cost of energy today. Denialism is history.
